Course fee reductions

Criteria for qualifying for a reduction in your fees

In some cases you may be eligible to claim a remission in your tuition fees. A reduction in tuition fees is available on courses where the second letter of the course code is either an F or a P. Reductions are available to people who fall into one or more of the following catergories:

  • Under 19 and over 16 on August 31st 2011
  • Receiving work-related Employment & Support Allowance
  • Receiving Job Seekers Allowance
  • Level 1 Entitlement
All adults (19+) without a FULL Level 1 qualification are entitled to enrol on a FULL Level 1 or Entry Level Programme, best suited to their needs, and pay only exam and material fees. (Please note that this does not apply to ESOL qualifications).
  • Level 2 Entitlement
All adults (19+) without a FULL Level 2 qualification are entitled to enrol on a FULL Level 2 Programme, best suited to their needs, and pay only exam and material fees.
  • Level 3 Entitlement
Adults aged from 19–24 at the 31st August without a FULL level 3 qualification are entitled to enrol on a FULL level 3 programme and pay only exam and materials fees.

The Level 1, 2 and 3 Entitlement is not guarantee of a place
and is subject to availability. You will be asked to sign a
declaration that you do not already hold a full level 1, 2 or 3
qualification in order to receive this remission. Please ask
in the Hub if you are unsure if your current qualifications
fall into either category.

Are there some courses I can't claim a reduction for?

Some courses do not qualify for 100% fee remission.
These include:

  • Where 'No Remission' is stated in the text
  • Where the second character of the course code is a C (25% will be deducted from the tuition fee for these courses, however students under 19 and over 16 must pay in full)
  • Where your course is being sponsored by an employer
  • Where the second character of the course code is an H
  • Where the second character of the course code is an S.

Notes

All students aged 19 and over have to pay materials and exam fees, even when tuition fees are waived.

If you wish to claim a reduction in fees you must enrol in person.

You will be asked to provide your National Insurance Number if you are claiming a remission in fees based on income related Employment and Support Allowance, or Job Seekers Allowance.
